The Best Viewpoints to Explore in Madeira

The viewpoint has a suspended glass platform that provides a unique experience. To get there, take the VR1 road, with free parking available on-site.

2 – Eira do Serrado Viewpoint

Situated in Curral das Freiras, Eira do Serrado offers a panoramic view over the valley and allows you to observe the surrounding mountains and the traditional village at the valley’s base.

This is an ideal spot for memorable photos and for experiencing the charm of Madeira’s mountains. Access is via the ER107 road, where free parking for your car is available.

3 – Pico do Arieiro Viewpoint

One of the highest points in Madeira, Pico do Arieiro offers an impressive view of the mountains, and on clear days, it is even possible to see the neighbouring island of Porto Santo.

This viewpoint is ideal for watching the sunrise and capturing incredible moments above the clouds. Located on Pico do Arieiro, access is easy from Funchal via the ER103 road, also with free parking available.

4 – Ponta do Rosto Viewpoint

Located in Ponta de São Lourenço on the east of the island, this viewpoint is known for its cliffs and stunning views of the sea and north coast.

It’s the perfect place to admire unique rock formations and watch the sunset. Access by car is via the ER109 road to the parking area near the viewpoint trail.

5 – Cais da Ribeira da Janela Viewpoint

Located in Porto Moniz, with a view of the famous Ribeira da Janela rocks and the deep sea, this viewpoint offers a charming and untouched setting.

It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the waters. Access is via the VE2 road, which has a parking area near the viewpoint.
