Rental period.
- (1 day) = 24 hours.
- All rentals are charged at a minimum of 1 day = 24 hours per A full day is still charged for any part of a 24-hour period used.
- If the vehicle is not returned at the agreed time or place, extra charges may apply.
- If the customer wishes to extend the hire period, they must inform the rental company 24 hours in advance and within this period they will be subject to availability.
- There is no grace period.
- There will be no money back when the Hirer returns the vehicle before the return date on the rental agreement.
Failure to lift the vehicle.
- the rental company may cancel the reservation if the renter does not show up after 2 hours from the time mentioned in the reservation; if the renter does not inform about any delay or change caused by the flight delay or any other reason, such as not providing a flight number for reservations with airport pick-up.
Driving licence requirements
- Minimum age of the driver 23 years.
- Maximum driver age 75 years;
- The driver must have a driving license for more than 1 year and be over 23 years old.
- when picking up the vehicle, all drivers must present a full driving licence in their name. For UK drivers with the new style licence, paper and photo parts may be required. Please note that an International Driving Permit does not replace the requirement for a regular driving licence. If you are using an international licence/permit, a full driving licence in the main driver’s name will still be required to hire the vehicle. Personal identification with photo or passport is mandatory;
- There may be additional drivers at an extra cost – €20 per driver/per hire period;
Fuel.
- The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel (EX- ¼ to ¼).
- The rental company will not reimburse any fuel left over.
Out of Hours.
- For collection or return at the airport from (20:00 to 08:00) after-hours charges apply on request.
Delivery or return at the airport.
- (If the vehicle is picked up at the airport you must inform Rent a Car of your arrival flight number when booking the vehicle or as soon as possible. Insularcar Rent a Car will not be held responsible if the vehicle is not provided or available due to late arriving flights if your flight number has not been provided).
Delivery or return to the hotel.
- Delivery charges may apply depending on the location of the hotel, subject to consultation with Insularcar.
Traffic fines.
- The main driver on the hire contract is responsible for all offences committed during the hire period.
- The driver is responsible for all tolls, car parks and traffic fines.
Insurance coverage.
- Mandatory CDW insurance is included; however, excesses apply according to the rented car:
– A-Mini (MCMZ) 800€– B-Economy (EDMZ) 800€
– C-Compact (EDMV) 800€
– D – Compact (EDAV) 1000€
– E-Standard (CDMV) 1000€
– F-Standard (CDAV) 1500€
– H-Full size (SVMD) 1500€
– G-Compact (IVMV) 1500€
- All the figures shown already include the current VAT rate.
- Insularcar Rent a Car Lda. may cancel the booking or the vehicle hire contract if the hirer refuses to leave the excess deposit.

SCDW insurance is optional and not included, The values for the SCDW are on the website and can be purchased if you want to eliminate the excess and do not have to leave a deposit with the exception of groups G and H – 7 and 9 seater cars where the SCDW reduces the excess to the minimum amount of 250.00€. Even if you buy the SCDW option and leave no deductible, the customer is responsible for the loss of keys, fuel supply not suitable for the vehicle, damage to tires and rims, isolated breakage of glass and damage underneath the lower side corners and under the vehicle caused by negligence such as: Driving and parking off road without tarmac, Parking under walls and rock cliffs with signs and danger of falling stones, improper parking of the vehicle and obstruction of roads, entrances and exits of private and public property, abandonment of the vehicle with the keys inside, damage caused to the interiors and accessories of the vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances. If there is damage caused by our or another vehicle and you do not contact us to inform what happened. In case of an accident involving other vehicles or properties it is mandatory to inform us immediately and contact the Police except when we are contacted and called to the scene of the accident and we give the indication that the presence of the Authority will not be necessary.
In the event of an accident or damage caused to the vehicle and it is not in a condition to continue circulating, Insularcar reserves the right not to provide a replacement vehicle if it is considered driving due to serious negligence of the driver of the Insularcar Rent a Car vehicle.
SCDW insurance may not apply or be accepted for rental bookings of less than 3 days, in which case it is necessary to leave the excess.
Security deposits.
- Insularcar will require a Credit Card for a security deposit at the beginning of the rental to cover the insurance excess, this will be an amount blocked on the credit card that must be in the name of the MAIN Driver. The deposit is returned at the end of the rental as long as the vehicle is returned in the same condition in which it was rented. Debit cards and prepaid cards such as Revolut are NOT ACCEPTED for deposits. Upon receiving the vehicle, be sure to inspect the vehicle for damage and report any issues to Rent a Car before leaving the site. We recommend taking pictures of the vehicle and the existing damage. - According to the car booked by the customer, if the type and model is not available, a car of the same category and group with the same characteristics will be given.
Insurance exclusions.
- It is expressly forbidden to drive under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, and the driver is automatically in breach of any agreement with their insurance policy.
- Tyres, locks, underside or interior of the vehicle, loss of keys, fuel mixture or negligent use of the vehicle.
- Any situation involving our vehicle: such as an accident, vandalism, theft or fire, it is compulsory to call the police and inform Insularcar Rent a Car immediately.
- It is important to inform Insularcar Rent a Car immediately of any mechanical anomalies using the assistance contacts provided in the hire contract.
- Insularcar Rent a Car provides its customers with a 24-hour assistance contact in the rental contract. Assistance situations caused by driver negligence may be subject to costs borne by the customer.
Extras.
- Baby chair daily rate 6.00 euros per day
- Child booster seat 4.00 euros per day
Please note: all child seats must be installed by a parent or guardian.
ALL EXTRAS ARE PAID LOCALLY TO THE RENTAL COMPANY ON ARRIVAL.

Meet&Greet airport 24 hours subject to out-of-hours charges, deliveries and returns between 20:00 and 08:00 are subject to out-of-hours charges.
